Usage Recommendation:
New Sintered Glassware must be washed with Hydrochloric Acid (HCl), followed by several rinses with distilled water to remove any residual glass dust particles from the fritted part.
A Buchner funnel with a drip cone is a laboratory filtration apparatus used to separate solid particles from liquids. The Buchner funnel has a flat bottom with a sintered glass disk, which acts as a filter, and a stem that fits into a filter flask. The drip cone, which is typically made of plastic, is placed underneath the funnel to catch any drips that may occur during filtration.
The combined apparatus is used to filter liquids by gravity or vacuum. The liquid is poured into the Buchner funnel and the solid particles are trapped by the sintered glass disk, allowing the filtered liquid to pass through and into the filter flask. The Buchner funnel with a drip cone is commonly used in chemical and biological laboratories for filtration and purification of liquids.
