Description

The DNA (Deoxyribonucleic acid) model is a double-stranded nucleic acid that stores genetic information in all living organisms. It is composed of four nitrogenous bases (adenine, guanine, cytosine, and thymine), a sugar (deoxyribose), and a phosphate group.

The DNA molecule is arranged in a double helix structure with the nitrogenous bases paired in a specific manner (A with T and C with G) and held together by hydrogen bonds.

The DNA model is responsible for the transmission of genetic information from one generation to the next and serves as a blueprint for the synthesis of proteins. The discovery of the DNA model and its structure by James Watson and Francis Crick in 1953 was a breakthrough in the field of molecular biology and paved the way for advances in genetics, genomics, and biotechnology.
