A glass BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand) bottle is a specialized laboratory container that is used to measure the amount of oxygen consumed by microorganisms during the decomposition of organic matter. It is typically made of glass and is used in environmental and water quality testing.

The BOD bottle is designed to have a specific volume, usually 300 or 600 mL, and to be filled with a sample of water or wastewater. Then, an amount of seed inoculum is added to the sample, and the bottle is sealed with a stopper. The bottle is then incubated for a specific period of time, typically 5 days, at a specific temperature, typically 20°C. After the incubation period, the oxygen level inside the bottle is measured. By comparing the initial and final oxygen levels, it is possible to determine the BOD of the sample, which is an indicator of the amount of organic matter present in the water or wastewater.

BOD bottles are widely used in different applications such as in water quality testing, environmental monitoring, and other laboratory procedures. They are easy to clean and can be used multiple times. It’s important to note that BOD measurements are only one of several tests used to evaluate water quality and it’s not the only parameter used to determine the overall health of water bodies.
